Eisen's Mailbag: RB Da'Rel Scott's future?

**

What the situation with RB Da'Rel Scott? He played really well last preseason. He runs hard and makes plays. Do you think Scott will get more opportunities as the season goes on?**

Dear Andrew:
Da'Rel Scott certainly did impress during the preseason of his rookie season (2011) where he ran for a long touchdown against the Bears and **blocked a punt** but I'm not sure how well Scott played in the 2012 preseason; he rushed for 55 yards on 17 carries, a 3.2-yard average. Granted, he usually ran behind the second or third-string line, but he also played against defenders who likely didn't make an NFL roster. Scott has fully recovered from his knee injury and will get an opportunity to show what he can do in training camp – his third with the team. But I see him getting relatively few opportunities to carry the ball once the season begins because David Wilson and Andre Brown are ahead of him on the depth chart. However, if he makes the most of those opporunities, you could see a three-headed attack like the team had in 2008 with Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward. If there is one thing you should know about the Giants, the team believes you can never have too many RB's especially ones who have homerun speed like Scott.
