Keeping the competition at linebacker alive, Herzlich led the Giants with eight tackles (four solo) against the New England Patriots on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. Herzlich was flying around all game and made his biggest impact with an interception late in the first half.

On a tipped pass by cornerback Trumaine McBride (who later had an interception of his own), Herzlich came down with the pass from quarterback Ryan Mallett, setting up a Josh Brown field goal and earning the title of "Extra Effort" Player of the Game.
