[GAME RECAP: GIANTS NEARLY UPSET UNDEFEATED PACKERS AT HOME
](http://www.giants.com/news-and-blogs/article-1/Giants-Fall-to-Packers-38-35/677e864c-9801-412e-8865-196189ffdad1)The Giants put up a tremendous fight Sunday, but in the end they learned that you can't take out a champion unless you knock him down and don't let him regain his feet.
With the crowd at MetLife Stadium roaring, the Giants tied the score with a Hakeem Nicks touchdown and D.J. Ware's two-point conversion with 58 seconds remaining. But that was more than enough time for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, who marched down the field and won the game, 38-35, on Mason Crosby's 31-yard field goal as time expired.
For the second time in five seasons, the Giants lost a December home game to an undefeated team by a 38-35 score. In 2007, it was the New England Patriots, who completed their 16-0 regular season in Giants Stadium. The Packers improved to 12-0 and won their 18th consecutive game, including the postseason.
**POSTGAME QUOTES
Coach Coughlin: "We played hard and did a lot of good things but we didn't win. There is no hanging your head, it is a tough business and you have to do the things you have to do to win the game. I give credit to a lot of the players that coming into the stadium didn't know they were going to play in the positions that they played in. Mitch Petrus, Kevin Boothe, the defensive guys that got shuffled around because of injuries and all the guys that had to turn around and play special teams, those guys deserve a lot of credit. We battled back and forth and I thought that it would be a close game. I thought statically, believe it or not, the two teams were very close. Obviously, it was a few yards here and there but coming into the game, we felt pretty good about it. I had a number in my mind that I thought we would hold them to and what we would score and obviously it didn't work the way I planned. We have four games to go and three of them in our division. We have to regroup and I think this brings us together even tighter than we have ever been before as a team. Guys laid it on the line for each other tonight and they played hard. The accurate quarterback on the last drive, what can I tell you? He made a couple significant plays late and we felt that we would be going into overtime. It was not to be." FULL TRANSCRIPT
