Giants draft Arizona RB Gary Brightwell in Rd 6


With the 196th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected Arizona running back Gary Brightwell (5-11, 218 pounds).

2020: All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention… Finished eighth in the Pac-12 in rushing with 409 rushing yards despite having two games cancelled because of COVID-19… Eclipsed the 100-yard mark in two of his five games after entering the year with three 100-yard rushing games in 23 career appearances… Set career high in carries with 22 versus Colorado (12-5-20) and catches with four at Washington (11-21-20)… Season high for all-purpose yards was 132 against USC in season opener… Named to Doak Walker Award Preseason Watchlist… Declared for NFL Draft following the season.

2017: Played in all 13 games, primary as a key contributor on special teams … Did not record any offensive statistics … Recorded two tackles on special teams coverage units.

High School: Graduated in 2017 from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md … Letterwinner in football … Served as team captain as a senior … First-team all-conference and first-team All-State MIAA … Averaged 6.7 yards per carry as a senior … Rushed for 519 yards and eight touchdowns on 78 carries … Consensus three-star recruit.
