2017 Bracket Challenge: LSU Vs. Michigan State

LSU

Notables: WR Odell Beckham Jr. (2014, 1st Rd), CB Corey Webster (2005, 2nd Rd), DE Leonard Marshall (1983, 2nd Rd)

If you need playmakers, pick from LSU. Beckham is the first Giants player to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons since Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor from 1981-83. Webster started more than 100 games for the Giants and was a postseason hero en route to two Super Bowl titles. Marshall also won two championships and was a member of some of the best defenses in the history of the game. He currently ranks third in franchise history with 79.5 sacks.

VS.

MICHIGAN STATE

Notables: LB Carl Banks (1984, 1st Rd), LB Brad Van Pelt (1973, 2nd Rd), WR Mark Ingram (1987)

Banks was the third overall selection of the 1984 NFL Draft and played for the Giants through the 1992 season. He was one of the premier run-stoppers of his era, a standout on the teams that won Super Bowls XXI and XXV, a Pro Bowler in 1987 and a member of the NFL 1980's All-Decade Team. Van Pelt played for the Giants from 1973-83. Van Pelt was not only one of Big Blue's best players, but their most versatile and best athlete.  Brad joined Harry Carson, Brian Kelley and later Lawrence Taylor to form the famed group of linebackers known as the "Crunch Bunch." He was selected to play in the Pro Bowl every season from 1976-80. Van Pelt played in 143 games for the Giants in four home stadiums - Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl, Shea Stadium and Giants Stadium – and for five head coaches – Alex Webster, Bill Arnsparger, John McVay, Ray Perkins and Bill Parcells. Mark Ingram's catch-and-run against the Bills in Super Bowl XXV will never be forgotten by Giants fans. He was the game's top Giants receiver with five catches for 77 yards.
