East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Patsy Manganelli of Bronxville High School (Bronxville, N.Y.) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 8 of the 2026 season. Manganelli's Broncos earned their fifth victory in a row and improved to 5-1 with a convincing 35-7 home win over Pleasantville. Pleasantville entered the game with a five-game winning streak of their own and also held a 5-1 record. Bronxville has outscored their opponents 236-48 so far this season.
The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants select one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting high school football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.
In recognition of Coach Manganelli's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 grant from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade will be donated to the school's football program. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants Head Coach John Harbaugh and will be honored at a postseason dinner and a 2027 preseason home game.
Patsy Manganelli took over the Bronxville football program in 2017 and has established himself as one of the most respected high school football coaches in New York State. Under his leadership, the Broncos achieved a historic 12-0 season in 2025, securing the New York Class C State Championship and earning the program's first state title in 15 years. His team dominated opponents with a high-powered offense, tenacious defense, and disciplined play. Manganelli has built the program around the principles of preparation and hard work through his "EEE" philosophy, which stands for "Effort Equals Everything." In recognition of his accomplishments, he was named the 2025 New York State Class C Head Football Coach of the Year. In addition to coaching, Manganelli serves as a physical education and health teacher, reinforcing the values that have helped make the Broncos one of New York's premier small-school football programs.
"I am incredibly honored to receive the New York Giants Coach of the Week award, but this recognition is truly a reflection of our entire program," said Manganelli. "An honor like this does not happen without our entire coaching staff. Their tireless work and daily commitment is nothing short of remarkable. I also want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Bronxville Board of Education and our incredible community for their steadfast support of our student-athletes. Bronxville Football would not be where it is today without our standard: E.E.E.—Effort Equals Everything. This award belongs to every coach, player, and community member who lives that standard every single day. Last but not least, thank you to my wife Chrissy, and daughters Amelia and Leah, for supporting me and letting me do what I love to do each and every day. Ooooorahhhh!"
