Out of 10 allotted days of organized team activities, the Giants now have eight in the bag with the completion of Tuesday's outdoor practice at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

They will wrap up the final two this week before a three-day mandatory minicamp opens next Tuesday.

But first, here is a recap of OTA No. 8:

HIGHLIGHTS

Shane Vereen and Jerome Cunningham made strong cases for the play of the day. The running back and tight end both had nice touchdown catches during 11-on-11 team drills that came from different quarterbacks.

The first was Vereen, who corralled a pass from backup quarterback Ryan Nassib before the ball hit the ground. It showed the running back's receiving skills, which were on full display when he set the record for most receptions by a running back in Super Bowl history this past February with the Patriots, his former team.

On the other one, quarterback Eli Manning threw a fastball to Cunningham over the heads of defenders in the back of the end zone for the score.

Meanwhile, cornerback Jayron Hosley notched one for the defense when he was in good position to force an incompletion on a deep pass to wide receiver Corey Washington.

OUT OF THE BACKFIELD

Starting with Vereen, the Giants' backfield has been catching passes left and right as offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo continues to develop his unit in the second year. On Tuesday, that included fullback Henry Hynoski, who got in the action with a pair of catches.

CUNNINGHAM CATCHES ON

As mentioned above, Cunningham again made the highlight reel with an impressive play. While fellow tight end Larry Donnell, who had a breakout season in 2014, is held out of practice with Achilles tendinitis, Cunningham has taken full advantage of his increased number of reps.

"I'm just out there with the number ones just getting a lot of reps and doing well," Cunningham said in a recent interview with Giants.com. "The first week didn't go so well, wasn't going so smooth, but the second week, [I'm] starting to get comfortable with the offense and starting to move around a lot faster."

On building chemistry with Manning, Cunningham added, "When he's looking at me, I can sense that he's going to throw to me, and even if he looks away, I know what I have to do to get open. So if he does come back to me, I can still receive a pass. It's nice to actually get those reps so you can build that chemistry."

AND THEN THERE WERE TWO

After a day off on Wednesday, the Giants have two OTA practices left on the schedule: June 11 and 12. Mandatory minicamp will be June 16-18.
