New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who picked the Jets to beat Big Blue in Week 16, attended the pep rally. He wouldn't speak formally at the ceremony, but afterwards, he told reporters that the Super Bowl victory is "great for our state and it's great for the region too."

He also said the Giants co-owners, who he joined onstage, let him hear about his Jets prediction. 

"John [Mara] and Steve [Tisch] tease me about having picked the Jets all the time. That's OK, but I'm not going to be one of these politicians who's going to go 'Oh, I think both teams should win.' New Jersey knows that's not how I am, and I made a choice and it's not the first time I was wrong and it won't be the last. So I'm happy for them."

In two years, his state will welcome the 48th edition of the Super Bowl to East Rutherford. Meanwhile, the host committee was down in Indianapolis doing reconnaissance.

"We're getting ready," he said. "A bunch of our folks are down there that are planning the Super Bowl, watching the things that went well in Indianapolis and things that could have gone better. So we're going to learn. But when it comes here in two years, I hope we have a day like this. That wouldn't be bad."

Asked if there's a chance both New York teams could be playing in the game, the governor said, "Of course there is."

"The Giants have shown they could do it," he continued. "Hopefully the Jets will show they can too. That would be a great day."
