Giants.com brings you an instant postgame recap of Sunday's game:

AT A GLANCE

After holding a "brutally honest" team meeting during the week, the New York Giants rallied to stifle one of the NFL's most dynamic offenses in a 12-9 overtime victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wide receiver Roger Lewis hauled in a 34-yard pass from Eli Manning to set up a 23-yard, game-winning field goal by Aldrick Rosas in the extra period. It was the Giants' first overtime victory since Week 16 at Detroit in 2013.

UP NEXT

The Giants (2-8) are set to play their first Thanksgiving Day game since 2009. They take on the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in the night game (8:30 p.m. ET) after Vikings at Lions (12:30 p.m.) and Chargers at Cowboys (4:30 p.m.).

Big Blue split the 2016 series against Washington with both teams winning on the road. They will see each other again in the season finale for the second year in a row.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON OFFENSE

*Undrafted rookie Chad Wheeler made his first career start at right tackle in place of Justin Pugh, who was out with a back injury. John Jerry (left) and D.J. Fluker (right) were the guards while Brett Jones remained at center for Weston Richburg, who is on injured reserve.

*Sterling Shepard, who was a late addition to the injury report this week due to an illness, did not suit up for the third time this season (he missed two games with an ankle injury). The second-year wide receiver was coming off a career game in which he posted 11 receptions for 142 yards.

*The Giants dug deep in the playbook on Sunday. On the same drive after the special teams executed a successful fake punt, running back Shane Vereen dropped back for a pass but was intercepted while trying to find tight end Evan Engram in the end zone.

*Eli Manning made his 209th consecutive regular-season start, breaking a tie with his brother, Peyton, for the second-longest streak at quarterback in NFL history.

*With defensive tackle Robert Thomas at fullback, running back Orleans Darkwa scored the first points of the game on a one-yard touchdown run with 13:26 left in the second quarter. It was just the Giants' third rushing touchdown of the season. Darkwa finished with 74 yards on 20 carries as the Giants eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the fifth time in six games.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON DEFENSE

*After giving up an average of 473.5 yards and 41.0 points in their previous two games, the Giants allowed 363 yards and nine points to the Chiefs in 66-plus minutes.

*Entering Sunday, the Giants had allowed a receiving touchdown to an opposing tight end in 10 consecutive games dating back to last year, the longest such streak in NFL history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. That streak ended on Sunday.

*A week after defensive end Olivier Vernon recorded his first career interception, defensive tackle Damon Harrison got his first one on a deflected shovel pass from Alex Smith late in the first quarter. The 350-pound All-Pro nicknamed "Snacks" returned it nine yards to the Chiefs 26. Jason Pierre-Paul's hit on tight end Travis Kelce, the intended receiver, led to the tipped ball. It was only Smith's second interception of the season and the fifth turnover for the Chiefs.

*Linebacker Devon Kennard recorded the team's first sack since Week 7 when he took down Smith at the Giants 32 on third down midway through the second quarter.

*Safety Landon Collins intercepted Kelce, a tight end, with 6:36 left in the game on a trick play. Collins also led the team with 15 tackles (one for loss).

*The Giants were unable to take the lead following Collins' interception, but cornerback Janoris Jenkins intercepted Smith again on the Chiefs' next drive deep in their territory to set up a go-ahead field goal. Kansas City wasn't done, though. Smith led the Chiefs on a nine-play, 69-yard drive to set up a 23-yard field goal to tie the game with one second remaining in regulation.

*The Chiefs won the toss and elected to receive to start overtime, but the Giants forced a punt to hand the ball back to the offense.

WHAT WE LEARNED ON SPECIAL TEAMS

*On a windy afternoon at MetLife Stadium, Aldrick Rosas missed an extra point wide right after Darkwa's touchdown in the second quarter. While it was Rosas' first missed extra point of the season, he entered the game missing a field goal attempt in each of his last four games and five of the previous six. Rosas, however, ended up making the go-ahead field goal from 25 yards with 1:38 to play and then the game-winner from 23 yards in overtime.

*Brad Wing booted a 57-yard punt to pin the Chiefs at their own five with 4:08 to play in a tie game. Two of his six punts were downed inside the 20.

*On fourth-and-one at the Giants 41-yard line, safety Nat Berhe took a direct snap from Zak DeOssie for a two-yard gain and a first down to extend the Giants' opening drive.
