After the Giants' last victory, Brandon Jacobs lifted Tom Coughlin in celebration among a frenzied group of players in the postgame locker room.
That was over a month ago.
And while the same elation was there after their 37-34 win in Dallas on Sunday night, Jacobs' 264-pound frame begged him not to do it again. Not after paying physical toll of an NFC East battle.
"The intensity was really high," Jacobs said. "But given the game I just had, tough sledding and whatnot, I didn't try to lift him up at all."
Ahmad Bradshaw was benched the entire first half for violating team rules, which meant Jacobs shouldered most of the workload. Jacobs' 19 carries were the most of the season while he broke the century mark for the first time since back-to-back 100-yard games last December against Washington and Minnesota.
Jacobs finished with 101 yards and two touchdowns, the second of which was a one-yarder that gave his team the final go-ahead.
Rookie fullback Henry Hynoski helped to pave the way on both.
"Honestly, it wasn't even the guys I was really assigned to -- it was just two guys that came off blocks that I really just cleaned up on," Hynoski said. "This was really unbelievable. I feel like we just came together as a team again today. This was by far the best win I've ever been a part of for however long I've been playing football. It's a great day to be a Giant. We came together as one today."
After dropping to last in the NFL in rushing two weeks ago, the Giants have posted consecutive games with at least 100 yards and now sit in control of the NFC East, holding the tiebreaker over the Cowboys.
"We're a hardnosed team, a hardhat team and we play hardhat games," Jacobs said. "This is what we do. We put ourselves in this position to be down like this, and we have enough character in our locker room and our coaching staff to win." Join other diehard Giants Fans!
