Quarterback Jameis Winston has been nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week Award.
During the Giants' Week 12 overtime loss in Detroit, Winston completed 18 of 36 passes for 366 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for a 93.1 passer rating. He added four rush attempts for 13 yards and also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Gunner Olszewski on a trick play. It was the first reception of the veteran quarterback's career.
Winston became just the second player since 1960 to throw for 350+ yards, two or more touchdowns and catch a touchdown in a game, joining Matt Ryan (2018).
The 31-year-old's touchdown catch marked the first by a Giants quarterback since at least 1940. It was also the longest touchdown reception by any quarterback since 2015, when Marcus Mariota caught a 41-yard touchdown pass. According to Next Gen Stats, his 13 yards after contact were the most by a quarterback on a reception since at least 2017.
Winston averaged 13.6 air yards per completion, the league's highest mark in a game since Week 1 of the 2024 campaign (Anthony Richardson), as he completed all four of his pass attempts beyond 20 air yards for 148 yards and a touchdown.
His 211 passing yards when pressured were the second-most by any player this season.
Winston helped lead the team to a season-high 517 total yards of offense and 10 plays of 20+ yards, the most by the Giants in a single game since 2010.
The other nominees for this week's FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week are:
- Cowboys QB Dak Prescott - Completed 23 of 36 attempts (63.9 percent) for 354 yards and two touchdowns with a 103.2 passer rating. Added five carries for nine yards and a touchdown
- Rams QB Matthew Stafford - Completed 25 of 35 passes (71.4 percent) for 273 yards and three touchdowns with a 122.7 passer rating.
- Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs - Recorded 264 scrimmage yards (219 rushing, 45 receiving) and three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving)
- Packers RB Emanuel Wilson - Recorded 125 scrimmage yards (107 rushing, 18 receiving) and two rushing touchdowns
- Seahawks WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba - Recorded eight receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns
As part of FedEx's expanded partnership with Feeding America and longstanding commitment to addressing food insecurity, Winston's honor would also spark a $2,000 donation to the Food Bank for New York City, part of the Feeding America network.
