Giants announce dates & times of preseason games

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants announced the dates and kickoff times for their three-game 2022 preseason, which includes two Sunday contests, one played in the afternoon.

They will open their preseason schedule at New England on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. The Giants and Patriots will meet in the preseason opener for the first time since 2003. The teams faced each other in the final preseason game in 15 consecutive summers from 2005-19, a streak that ended when the NFL canceled the 2020 preseason because of the pandemic. The teams met in the finale last summer, when the Patriots won in MetLife Stadium, 22-20. The Giants lead the preseason series, 20-11. The two teams first met in the preseason in 1971.

The Giants are 37-31-3 in preseason openers since 1950.

The Giants' only home preseason game this year will be played on Sunday, Aug. 21, when they host the Cincinnati Bengals at 7 p.m. The Giants and Bengals will meet in the preseason for the first time since a 25-23 Giants victory in Cincinnati on Aug. 22, 2019. This will be their first preseason meeting in MetLife Stadium. The Giants lead the preseason series, 4-1.

One week later, the Giants will return to MetLife Stadium as the visiting team when they face the Jets on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. The teams squared off in 51 consecutive summers (1969-2019) before the streak ended two years ago. When they resumed in 2021, the Jets ended the Giants' four-game winning streak in the series with a 12-7 victory to take a 26-25-1 lead. The tie was in 1972.

The Giants open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4:25 p.m. at Tennessee.
