OL David Diehl

Q: Have you played at all at left tackle?

A: No. So it's definitely something that I want to have happen. It's been unfortunate having Chris (Snee) and Rich (Seubert) out that I've had to play a different position. But being able to practice throughout training camp and getting all those reps, but I definitely want those during the game.

Q: Now we've talked about this. Do you think there's any other starting left tackle who would have played two games at left guard?
A: I don't know. That's the craziest thing about it, but I think that's where the versatility of me being able to play different things. It's years in that matter, but you look around the league, I don't think any other teams had both of their starting guards out for both preseason games. So you think that whatever, but I got my work there-I did it. But I definitely want to go back to my position I feel more comfortable with.

Q: Do you think you'll have a lot reps, three quarters maybe?
A: I think just because I haven't played in a game. I know I'm going to get work and do whatever it takes this week whether it's spending extra time, whatever like that. I think I definitely am prepared. I know the assignments and now it's just getting back in my technique.

Q: Is it a different mindset playing guard than tackle?
A: I don't think it's a different mindset. It's just different techniques and the amount of space used and different things. So no, I don't think it's a different mentality. I just think it's a different position on the field and it's a different way of using your body.

Q: If (William) Beatty doesn't start today, you're back to being left tackle?
A: Yeah. We'll see. We haven't had practice yet. We just finished going over all of our stuff from the last game. So now we're starting to kick back into other stuff so I'll find out this afternoon.

Q: Maybe just cover Rich and Chris in bubble wrap?
A: Yeah. No kidding, but no. Nobody wants to be out there more than those two guys so most importantly is that they come back healthy and that they're ready to go. Granted we're all working to get better, we're all working to win the preseason games, but our goal is to make sure we get better each week. And once we hit Sept. 12, once we hit that first game, we're ready to go. We'll just take one day at a time like we have been.

Q: You're not the kind of guy that would walk up to (offensive line coach) Pat (Flaherty) and say 'I want to be the left tackle.'
A: No. Like I said, I'm a team guy. I've always been a team guy. Like I said, it's unfortunate that both of those guys were hurt and I had to play a different position, but left tackle is my most comfortable position. It's where I spent the most time at and I feel the best at. So just like the other thing, you're just hoping that you get back to where you want to be and where you feel the best at. You can't change anything in the past. I wouldn't change anything in the past. We didn't have those guys there to help out so I stepped up. I played left guard, but I think those guys will be back and the addition of Shawn (Andrews) helps and hopefully I'll be back in my normal position.

Q: If you're not, will you have a temper tantrum?
A: No. I mean that's not me. I'm not a guy like that. The only thing you can do is continue to work and make sure you're taking care of business and playing at your best.

Q: Do you feel like you've been set back?
A: No. I've gotten it all throughout training camp. I've gotten reps. I've done everything. I just haven't gotten them in a game. So that will be the good thing to hopefully get them this week.

Q: It's kind of like riding a bike, right?
A: It's not that easy.

Q: I mean you've been away from it, but you're not starting from scratch.
A: No. No. No. Not at all, but it's definitely just different. It's different than playing guard. It's different than playing inside. There's so much more space you need to work. But I'll have this entire week to prepare.
