Practice Report (6/3): Giants wrap up OTAs

BRIAN-DABOLL-AWS

Another part of the offseason came to an end on Friday as the Giants took the field for their 10th and final OTA.

Phase Three, the last phase of the offseason program, concludes next week with the team's mandatory minicamp. Following the three-day camp, the Giants will be off until the start of training camp at the end of July.

Here are notes from Friday's practice:

*Another day, another visit from a couple of Giants alumni. Super Bowl XLVI hero Mario Manningham was on the sideline for all of practice, along with two-time Super Bowl Champion punter Sean Landeta.

Landeta, who ranks in the top 3 all-time in both punts and punting yards in franchise history, spent a long time chatting with punter Jamie Gillan and long snapper Casey Kreiter.

*Before team drills began, Saquon Barkley was off on the side with Director of Coaching Operations Laura Young doing hand-eye coordination drills. Young dropped a tennis ball in front of the running back, who would quickly react and try to catch the ball.

*Xavier McKinney had great coverage on one of the first plays of 7-on-7s, forcing an incompletion on a deep ball.

*Daniel Jones hit C.J. Board over the middle for a solid gain during 7-on-7s. The two linked up on two more passes during 11-on-11s, including one over the middle for a big gain.

*Tyrod Taylor and Austin Allen had a nice play, connecting on a pass for 10+ yards.

*11-on-11 drills opened with Jones hitting Wan'Dale Robinson on a quick pass, something we have seen often over the last few weeks.

*On the next play, Barkley caught a screen from Jones towards the sideline for a first down.

*McKinney had good coverage on another play during team drills, forcing an incompletion in the end zone.

*Taylor had a nice drive during 11-on-11s, beginning with a pass to Alex Bachman over the middle for a solid gain. The veteran QB soon hit Austin Proehl for another first down. The drive concluded with Taylor making a great pass to Darius Slayton near the pylon, who made a nice catch for a touchdown.

*With the first team offense set up near the goal line, Richie James ran a great route to get open and caught a touchdown pass from Jones.

*Davis Webb found Austin Proehl on consecutive plays, each for a nice gain.

*On one of the final plays of practice, Dexter Lawrence got his hands up at the line of scrimmage and was able to bat down a pass.
