Postgame Giants Players Interviews

**Linebacker Mark Herzlich

Q: Didn't you feel like you had them under control for the first three quarters?**A: Containg McCoy is hard task. It's something we definitely set out to do at the beginning of the week. We did for the most part. Obviously that last run doesn't taste good at all. But we have to [contain McCoy] and then what we didn't do is we didn't stop the big plays and that's what we talked about too. We can't let the big plays on third down. We can't have missed tackles happen and that's something that will hurt us.

Q: What was it like to be on defense at that crunch time?A: That's what you live for. That's why we play the game. You don't want to go play a game in a situation where your play doesn't matter and our play mattered at that point. We need to rise up. I think we have the mentality to rise up. I need to execute better. That's something I can do to help the team.

Q: Did you see anything in particular as to the reason why you couldn't stop that last drive?A: I think that part of playing defense is staying resilient. Two yards on first down, that's a win. Two yards on second down, that's a win. If we lose a third down, that's still a loss for the drive and that's when we have to step up. Win every down and force the punt.

Q: What was Coach's message after the game?A: We talked last week about fighting back and really putting it all out there and I think that that's something that we need to see next week. Everybody needs to go out. Everybody needs to look themselves in the mirror, myself included, and that's the only way that we're going to get better and that's the only way we can be the team we want to be and get to the playoffs.

Q: When you put this behind you will you feel good about this? Will you feel more confident?A: I'll have more confidence from being out there. No I won't feel good about it. When you're a player, you don't ever feel good about a loss. It doesn't matter what you do right. You never feel good about a loss.

**Cornerback Prince Amukamara

Q: When you see Cruz make that third-down, did you think you guys had it?**A: Oh my gosh. Yeah, I think we're about to go to overtime and then after that we just lost the ball. But it happens.

Q: How frustrating is it defensively to see them convert six third-downs and use up eight minutes and 59 seconds?A: Third down is a money down, especially for the DBs. We have to make a play and get off the field. And we didn't make a play. I guess we just have to go back, look at the film and see what happened and just fix the corrections.

Q: You said you're sore, how's your foot?A: My foot is good. Medicine does wonders. I didn't really feel it out there. I felt like my old self.

Q: Was there pressure on this game knowing your schedule?A: Yes. Yes, for sure. This was a huge game for us, especially because, we don't like to live in the past, but to overlap the last year. Even though we did beat them earlier in the season, this is our home turf and we have to defend it and win our home games. It would have been big for us in the [division] and that's our goal to win the [division]. We didn't finish the task at hand.

Q: Were you totally confident in your foot?A: I wasn't thinking about my foot at all.

**Linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka

Q: What went wrong on that drive where the Eagles drove 80 yards?**A: Obviously we have to go back to the film. When you're up in there it's tough to get a true idea unless it was your fault. We'll figure it out tomorrow and have a better answer for it.

Q: Are you disappointed in this loss?A: It's very disappointing. The only bright side that I can think of is that we still have a lot of games to play. As long as we come back strong with a better mindset, get ready to play tougher then we can still control our destiny going down the stretch. But we can't put too many quarters like that together and expect to be successful.

Q: Were you disappointed in the energy and enthusiasm?A: We came out fired up and were ready to go. There were some execution problems and mistakes here and there. But that happens throughout the course of the game. Regardless of that, we need to overcome. Things that we were doing so well during those wins were closing out the games and figuring out exactly what needed to be done just to get the win, regardless of the situation, regardless of what had gone wrong, but we didn't do that.

Q: Were you confident when they took over on the twenty yard-line?A: Confidence doesn't get it done all the time. You still have to go out there and back it up and perform. Like I said, we're going to go back and look at the film. We're not going to hold our heads down too long. It hurts tonight. We're going to take our lumps. They gave them to us. We have to give them credit. After we're done watching this film and making all of the corrections, we'll be the Giants that we were before. And we'll get back to winning.

**Brandon Jacobs

Q: How disappointed are you in the team's performance tonight?A:** I'm very disappointed, I thought we wanted it but we didn't play well. They outplayed us and they wanted it more than we did.

Q: Can you explain why we saw what we did from the Giants tonight?A:We didn't want it as badly as they did. There's no explanation for a game like that. We didn't play that well and they wanted it more with their backs up against the wall and they came right at us.

Q: What was our reaction to the crowd booing here tonight?A:That's the best thing that they do here is boo. I'm not worried about that. I've been here for years, that's just what you got and you've got to deal with it.

Q: Some people said that the offense's productivity was pathetic tonight, what do you think?A:It was absolutely pathetic. It was the worst I have ever experienced in my seven years. We were top three in the league and now we are like 40th.

Q: Does it burn in your gut when you see the Eagles come here and do this again?A:No question. You never want to lose a game in your division and losing a game at home is just gut wrenching.

WR Victor Cruz Q: Why did it take so long for the offense to get going?A:I don't know. I guess it just took us a little while to figure them out. They were doing some different coverages and things like that so it just took us awhile to get going.

Q: Do you feel like you had enough time to run your routes? It looked like Eli was a little hassled back there.A:Obviously as a receiver all you can do is run your route and hope that Eli has enough time back there to get you the ball but he was getting harassed and there were some times where he was getting flushed out of the pocket and things like that. As a receiver, you can't worry about things like that. We have to be worried about getting open and giving him a safety valve to go to if he gets flushed out.

Q: Can you take us through the play that you scored a touchdown on?A:It was a route where me and Mario switched positions. There was some confusion mid-route on who would take who and I managed to get behind

Q: Were the Eagles really trying to disrupt things early on with your routes? A:Not necessarily on the routes. It was more when we got in two-minute situations or in the second half. They had someone over the top of me to really try to push me and disrupt my routes so I couldn't get off as clean as I was getting off in the first half.

WR Hakeem Nicks Q: Did you feel as if you guys played tough tonight?A:As an offense, I don't feel that we played tough. I can't speak for the defense but as for the offense, I do not feel that we played tough. I feel that we let them get the best of us in certain situations. We let them get that extra edge on us but we really need to look at this on film and see what we really have to do.

Q: What do you all feel happened out there?A:We just weren't clicking as an offense. I feel like their defense outplayed us and I feel like we weren't as physical. We need to look at the things we did wrong and then we have to come back because we've got a big one next week and we need to look at that.

Q: Is it frustrating when you see the offense get going in a two-minute situation? Would you like to see more shotgun or more no-huddle?A:That is out of my hands. It is frustrating sometimes but you just need to control what you can control and make plays when you are called on.
