RE: The Giants' struggling offense
A: It's just one of those things where we just have to keep working. Guys have to get open, they have to protect. I thought we did a good job protecting. I didn't think we did a great job of getting open today for (Eli). It's just one of those things where everybody has to work together cohesively. You just go back to the drawing board, continue to run routes and get the timing down on every single thing. They threw a lot of different coverages at us and they did some things differently from what we expected from watching the tape. It's just one of those things that you have to continue to grow with.Q: Can you put your finger on what they did differently than what you were expecting?
A: No. If I did, I would have made more plays. They were a good team. A tough, physical team. It was a close game. I think we had a chance to make some plays that we didn't really come through on. So, we just have to keep working.
Q: Not everything can be like a Hollywood script, but people were looking at this game to get an emotional boost after the week and after Hurricane Sandy. Does it feel like a little bit of a letdown?
A: Yeah, for them and for ourselves. It's our livelihood. You always want to win and it was great as to how many people showed up with what was going on in the city and it was a hard-fought game. I don't think they were let down. We did the same thing the city has been doing, which is fighting, fighting, fighting. Everybody has come back and we have to continue to fight. People in the city are continuing to fight and you can't win every battle, but you live to fight again.Q: Did it feel like a different week?
A: Yeah. I kind of suffer from weather depression. So, with the weather and the mood of everything that's going on around me, I was kind of down. It was a tough week and it's even tougher to lose a game, and you have to go lay in the dark in the cold, with no lights.
Q: What do you do next? How do you get back to your version of normal?
A: Call (PSE&G). I'm just doing the same thing that everybody else is doing right now, trying to get the lights back on and get in a normal routine. The wife starts school this week. We just try to go to work, get my lunch bag and go to work.
Q: How do you get the passing game back in sync, after a game like this?
A: Just keep going to practice. I mean, that's the only thing we can do. Just keep practicing and guys get open. Just work on getting open. It's just one of those things where as big or as bad as it seems, we just have to make a couple more plays.
RE: Getting the running game going to take pressure off the passing game
A: One of them has to get going, in order to open up the other one. Hopefully, running the ball helps us. When they bring more people down in the box, we can throw it. Hopefully, we throw it where they have to back out of the box and we can run it. It's just a combination of both.
Q: It looked like you had a chance to run a long way on that one pass, if you didn't bobble and trip.
A: Yeah. I'm just happy I caught the ball. First thing is first, you make the catch and then you try to make the play. Eli threw a great ball up there and I was able to run up under it.
Q: You've seen Eli have struggles early in the game, and then come back to lead game-winning drives. Were you surprised that he struggled for the whole game?
A: No, I thought Eli played well. He made the right calls, he made audibles that we needed to make and he put us in position to make plays. We just have to make more plays for him. It's on everybody. It's not Eli struggling, it's us as receivers, and we have to make plays for him. We have to run the ball to make it easier for him. It's not all on his shoulders, it's a team sport. We have to do other things to help him out. He can't carry us every time.
