RB Brandon Jacobs given Extra Effort Award


After each game, Giants fans vote for the "Extra Effort" Player of the Game Award on The voting is closed and the results are in for Week 9.

First, here's a recap of the nominees and their performances during Sunday's 24-20 victory over the Patriots.

RB Brandon Jacobs: 18 CAR, 72 YDS, 1 TD.

QB Eli Manning: 20-for-39, 250 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT.

TE Jake Ballard: 4 REC, 67 YDS, and caught the game-winning touchdown.

And the winner is…

Brandon Jacobs with 58 percent of the votes, followed by Manning (22%) and Ballard (20%).

"I knew what I had to do," Jacobs said. "I had to get in there, run hard, go straight forward and knock some people out of the way. We knew they were a good defense and hold their gaps well. The only way you move them is if you move them."
