Q: In some ways you've been the forgotten back because when they draft a first round guy everybody thinks that he's automatically the backup. When they put out the depth chart you were behind Ahmad. What were you thinking when that happened?**
A: I just try to make sure that I go out there and keep whatever Ahmad has going still going. If he's not doing too well, then I'll try to give us a spark. Going out there and running hard is my main objective right now. I'm trying to stay positive on my yardage and yards per carry and let the rest take care of itself.
Q: Is it a motivating thing when they draft a guy at your position in the first round?
A: It is because you know they're going to have to get him in the game sometime. You've got to make it a point that you're still working and staying positive and fighting forward. As long as I do that, I'll be in the mix.
Q: You want him to make sure that he knows that you want his job and much as he wants your job?
A: Most definitely.
Q: It seems that throughout your career in preseason you've always had really good games and really good performances. Has it been frustrating that the time has come all the time during the regular season?
A: A little bit, but I had guys in front of me that have been here longer than me so it was kind of one of those things that you've got to wait your turn. I feel like I've waited my turn and hopefully my turn is here. At the same time, you have a first round draft pick so you've just got to stay positive in your mind and on the field. Hopefully, I can get that done.
Q: Is there enough for three of you?
A: There could be, but who knows. We have some good receivers that go out there and make plays, so they want the ball too. Hopefully we can find a way to get that ball around enough for everyone on the squad.
Q: Do you think what you can do on third down will give you an edge?
A: Maybe, I hope so. I pride myself in being a good blocker when they're running routes out there on third down so if that means that'll give me the extra edge then I'm willing.
Q: Do you want to be a guy that's looked upon in the red zone?
A: Yes, definitely. I just want to be a playmaker. I just want to be somebody that can get the ball in my hands and I can do something with it. Whether that's in the red or green, goal line, or out on the field, I just want to get out there and make plays. If I can do that then I'll be glad to help my team.
Q: Is there any tension between helping the young guy and doing what you're doing on the field?
A: Not really. I just try to let my playing speak for itself in the end, but you've got to help the young guys. They won't learn if you don't help them. It's one of those things where I'm going to go out there and play my best, but at the same time I'm going watch him and make sure that he's doing what he needs to do because somebody taught me just the way I'm teaching him.
Q: Did you prepare any differently this season? Did you switch anything up or come in with the mindset that this is going to be the year for you?
A: I came in with the mind frame that this is going to be my year. Today proved different, and that's going to be on my mind. I worked hard this offseason and I'm going to continue working to make sure that I'm going to be the best player I can be.
