Q: How is the secondary addressing the breakdowns this week?
A: I just think that we have to pay more attention to detail with our assignments and understand what teams are trying to present to us. I think we did a pretty good job throughout most of the game but it is just a couple of plays that you just can't have and those plays can determine the outcome of the game.
Q: How important is it to get the defense back on track?
A:* *We have to play big in order to get to where we want to get to and that is the postseason. We have to definitely step our game up and play collectively as a team, which I think we failed to do for the whole season, to be honest with you.
Q: How important is it to know that you have your destiny in your hands?
A: We have control right now but we have to play as if we don't. My mindset is to win out. That is my only focus and that is the only way that I am thinking at this moment, which is a positive attitude to have. You want to go into this back stretch with a winning attitude and only hoping and wishing for the best.
Q: How do you not overlook the Redskins?
A: No, we are not overlooking the Redskins team. We have respect for each NFL opponent that we face but at the end of the day, I know what we bring to the table and how good we are. I know what the outcome of the game should be come Sunday. It is up to us to go out there and put it on film and make sure the outcome is what we plan.
Q: Is there a common thing with all of the breakdowns in the secondary?
A: Every scenario is different. If you are on the same page at the same time and every man holds themselves accountable as far as their assignment, recognition and their adjustments, then we wouldn't have so many busts and we would not have so many mental errors as there is. I think every man has to hold himself accountable for his own actions and if you take care of yourself, you make the team that much better. That is something that you can't have. If you want to be one of the top contenders, you can't have a guy doing their own thing here and someone trying to cover up for them. Instead of making one person wrong or two, you are making all 11 wrong because it is creating a big play. That is something that we definitely have to eliminate as a defense. I take a lot of constructive criticism and at the same time I put a lot on myself being a part of the secondary because I feel like we can control a lot of things that happen on the defense. Whether it is a run because a run doesn't break for a touchdown unless it comes through the defensive backs and a big pass is what it is, it comes through the defensive backs. We can definitely help out and change the outcome of the game just in the defensive backfield alone.
