Q: Did you feel that this team was better than people were giving you credit for?
A: Of course. You better [believe that]. Just likeMiami. Just like my man B. Marshall when he made the statement. If you don't have that confidence first of all in yourself, your team second, you should not be putting on an NFL uniform. You shouldn't be putting on a uniform period. We definitely knew what we had. And the coaches, it was obvious they knew it too. That's why they didn't make the moves in the offseason that a lot of other teams did.
Q: Do you think everyone believes it now?
A: It doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter with us. We're going to keep working. We're going to keep pushing and take it one game at a time.
Q: Does Frank Gore pose a special challenge this week?
A: Of course. He's a great running back. I faced him in my career, I was in that division. He's a good running back. He runs hard. He hasthe heart of a lion. You know what to expect of him, but one thing about it, we want to deliver that punch first. We want to make sure to continue to deliver that punch. We know what we have at stake so we want to make sure we go out there and take care of business.
Q: What makes him better than the average back?
A: Who do you consider an average back? Because all running backs in the NFL are elite to me. That's just how I feel. He just does things right. He knows how to read the holes. He knows how to fall forward when it's time to tackle him. I think that's something that he learned at theUniversity of Miami. All of the them, Edgerrin James, you can go down the list. All of the running backs from Miami, it was something they were taught as far as running hard and when it's time to get tackled fall forward. So he does a great job of that.
