VOTE: Saquon Barkley nominated for FedEx Ground Player of the Week

SAQUON-BARKLEY-FEDEX

The Saquon Barkley 2022 comeback tour keeps on rolling.

Barkley's dominant season continued on Sunday, as the 25-year-old running back ran for 152 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries against the Houston Texans.

The performance earned him his first nomination for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week award this season.

The other nominees for the weekly honor are Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who finished with 147 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries against the Las Vegas Raiders, and Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who gained 147 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns.

Following his performance against the Texans, Barkley has regained his spot atop the NFL leaderboard with 931 rushing yards on the season. He sits eight yards ahead of Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who has registered four more rushing attempts than the Giants' running back this year.

Barkley's 35 rushing attempts on Sunday topped his previous career-high of 31 attempts, which he set in the Week 4 win over the Chicago Bears. The 152 yards were his second-highest total of the season and just 12 shy of his effort against the Titans in the season-opening win.

Sunday's 100-yard game was his fourth of the season and 16th of his career.

Barkley's 152-yard outing moved him up to seventh place on the franchise's all-time rushing list with 3,868 yards, which passed former Giants running back Ron Johnson (3,836). Next up is two-time Super Bowl champion Ahmad Bradshaw at 4,232 yards.

His 73.0 rushing yards per game for his career is the most in Giants history.

For the 2022-23 NFL regular season, FedEx is once again proudly working with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to make donations of $2,000 in the name of the winning quarterback and running back ($4,000 total) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country.

Over the course of the entire season, select HBCUs will receive grants totaling more than $100,000 to support needs-based scholarships through the 2023-2024 school year.
