Saquon Barkley nominated for FedEx Ground Player of Week 8

SAQUON-BARKLEY-FEDEX

Saquon Barkley has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his performance against the Jets.

Barkley topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the first time this season, finishing the game with 128 yards on a career-high 36 rush attempts.

It was Barkley's highest yardage total since Week 10 of the 2022 campaign, when he set a then personal-record of 35 carries for 152 yards against the Texans and was also nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

The sixth-year running back is now up to 412 yards in five games this season.

Sunday's performance was Barkley's 17th career 100-yard rushing game. His yardage total against the Jets resulted in him jumping Alex Webster (4,638) for fifth all-time in rushing yards in Giants history with 4,661 yards in just 65 games.

The other nominees for the Week 8 FedEx Ground Player of the Week include Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who ran for 101 yards on 22 carries, and Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards, who totaled 80 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries.

For the 2023-24 season, the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards will once again proudly work with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to make donations of $2,000 in the name of the winning quarterback and running back ($4,000 total) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country.

Over the course of the entire season, select HBCUs will receive grants totaling more than $100,000 to support needs-based scholarships through the 2024-2025 school year. Over the past two seasons, FedEx has donated more than $200,000 to directly support needs-based scholarships to HBCU students.
