After three weeks of OTAs and a month of conditioning before that, the New York Giants entered the final phase of the offseason workout program today. They will practice through Thursday and then break for the summer, not reporting back until training camp at the end of July.

The second-year wide receiver caught a pair of touchdowns from Eli Manning in the red zone. On the first, Manning hit Shepard perfectly in rhythm over the middle. The second was in the front corner of the end zone on the right side. Shepard, who hauled in eight touchdowns as a rookie, scattered a handful of other catches throughout the day.

Coach Ben McAdoo singled him out after practice when he met with the media.

"He had a nice day today," McAdoo said. "I think he went out and had a strong first day in camp. He really showed up well inside, made a lot of plays, and so it's good to have everybody out here working."

The one-on-one competitions at camp don't get much better than cornerback Janoris Jenkins and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., two of the Giants' four Pro Bowlers from this past year. Jenkins got the better of the matchup today and broke up a deep pass intended for Beckham down the sideline. Jenkins also got in the way of a Manning pass intended for wide receiver Tavarres King.

The hybrid linebacker/safety made a big play from the secondary today, intercepting a tipped ball by Jadar Johnson on a Davis Webb pass. Pinkins caught the ball in stride and took it the other way. Even before the turnover, Pinkins was off to a good start at minicamp. He's a heated competitor and broke up a few plays to draw the praise of safeties coach David Merritt. Originally a sixth-round draft pick by Seattle in 2014, Pinkins signed with the Giants in late November of last season and played in the final six games for Big Blue, including the playoff game in Green Bay.
