After two Giants were named to its All-NFL Team yesterday, the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) voted wide receiver Sterling Shepard to the 2016 All-Rookie Team. The other receiver to make the list was Michael Thomas, who was taken by New Orleans seven picks behind Shepard in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Shepard finished with 65 catches for 683 yards, and his eight touchdown receptions were second only to Thomas' nine among all rookies in 2016. The Oklahoma product proved to be most valuable in clutch situations, converting four fourth downs via reception. That tied him with Eagles tight end Zach Ertz for the most in the entire league, not just among rookies.

For the 2015 season, the PFWA voted Giants safety Landon Collins and undrafted tight end Will Tye to the All-Rookie Team. In 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. was named the PFWA's Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year. Those awards both went to Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott this year, and Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa, who led all NFL rookies in sacks, was selected as the 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year.
