He brings experience on both sides of the offensive line, as well as a familiarity with Ben McAdoo, who is entering his second season as the Giants' offensive coordinator. The two overlapped with the Packers from 2010 to 2013 when McAdoo coached tight ends and quarterbacks before getting his first coordinator position with Big Blue.

Playing 62 games throughout his five-year career, Newhouse has started 36 times in the regular season: 26 at left tackle, eight at right tackle and two as an extra lineman.

Newhouse joins a Giants offensive line that has, with the exception of two games in 2014, started the same left and right tackles for the past two seasons.

Will Beatty has started 46 consecutive games at left tackle, while 2013 first-round draft choice Justin Pugh manned the right side for the last two years, missing two starts last season with a quadriceps injury.

Meanwhile, change is already underway with the players between them.

The team released last year's starting center, J.D. Walton, paving the way for 2014 second-round draft pick Weston Richburg to slide over from guard and play the position that he held in college. Coach Tom Coughlin said as much at the NFL Scouting Combine last month in Indianapolis. And before those two developments, the Giants re-signed Dallas Reynolds and also added CFL star center Brett Jones to the mix.
