Players to watch vs. Carolina
Giants.com names the five players to watch during the Week 3 match up with the Carolina Panthers.

C David Baas David Baas is back for his second game after missing the season opener as well as the final two weeks of the preseason. Sunday will be the first time this season that the Giants start the same offensive line two weeks in a row. "I think I see us getting a little bit better each week," Tom Coughlin said earlier this week. "Is that fast enough? Of course not, but I do see progress. The more the communication goes, the better off we are. You say veteran, but take a look at the snaps and the amount of practice time that David Baas has had, for example. That's almost like moving a new guy in, too, until he gets to where he feels good about it. I see a little progress every week."

QB Eli Manning The Giants have the No. 1 passing offense right now but are last in the NFL with a minus-eight turnover differential. Eli Manning and the offense will need to clean up that department. "There's no panic," Manning said this week. "Obviously we know we've got to get going. We've got to start playing better football now. We dug ourselves into a small hole, but there are 14 games left. It's a long season. We're still right in the mix in our division and we've just got to get back to playing. Just worry about playing better football than what we are right now."

TE Brandon Myers The first-year Giant is second in the NFL among tight ends with 13 catches and 140 yards, including six for 74 last week. He is also a favorite of Eli Manning, as he is tied with Victor Cruz for most targets (19) and catches on the team. Myers also showed some grit last week after absorbing a few big hits. "I think he's always going to battle," offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said. "He's not as big and strong as some tight ends in the league, but he's always going to give you a great effort, he's always going to be technique- sound. He's always going to know what his assignment is and try to do the right thing, so you always appreciate guys like that."
![DE Jason Pierre-Paul The Giants were unable to disrupt Peyton Manning up front last week with zero sacks and just two quarterback hits. Jason Pierre-Paul is growing healthier each week and is looking to breakout out in that department against Carolina. "My body is right, my head is thinking but my body isn't responding," Pierre-Paul said. "It's getting better and better. I go out there, I was rushing the passer very well [in practice], I was playing the run excellent, that's all there is to it. I just have to go out there and each day I have to play harder."](https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/private/t_new_photo_album/t_lazy/f_auto/giants/jfgrpw1e4eyoolmnxawo.jpg)

P Steve Weatherford Trindon Holliday's 81-yard punt return for a touchdown last week for Denver was just the second of Weatherford's 511 career punts to be returned for a score. The Giants face another quality specialist in Ted Ginn this week. Ginn ranks in the top 10 in both average kickoff and punt return yards this season. "I literally just had a crappy game," Weatherford said about last week. "I feel like I let my team down. I've been on this team for three years and I felt like I've been consistent every single week, punt to punt. Once in a while you are going to have a bad punt, but that was a bad game."
