9/11 Never Forget

  • Annual FDNY Visit: As each year goes by, the New York Giants continue to remember that tragic day in 2001 when our lives were forever changed. Although these visits are always somber, the firefighters and their families enjoy the team coming out in support of what they do.
  • Tuesdays Children: Tuesday's Children provides a lifetime of healing for those who have been forever changed by terrorism and traumatic loss. As long as we have been visiting firehouses following 9/11, we have been engaged with Tuesday's Children. This year we were able to donate hundreds of game tickets to our opening day so that those who were affected by loss on 9/11know that they will forever hold a place in the hearts of the New York Giants.

Their words, actions, and impact nationwide are intended to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation.
  • Through ongoing financial support, the Giants have recently been able to assist SHP in funding local SAVE Promise Clubs: Youth Empowerment and Program Sustainability. SHP's founding is based on the principle that young people are a critical component and drive in the gun violence prevention movement. Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) Promise Clubs, established and led by students, are a powerful approach to preventing gun and other forms of violence. Through more than 2,300 SAVE Promise Clubs nationwide, SHP gives young people the skills they need to protect their peers, training and empowering a generation of young people to be upstanders and create safer schools and communities. SHP's programs are sustained through these clubs post-training, and SHP supports activity a variety of ways.

The NYPD presented to the team in 2017, bringing in many of their community officers to discuss how they were changing many of their policies and practices, and creating more "community officer" positions on the force to really get to know the people in their patrol areas, while also organizing more community conversations to get to know the issues that matter to residents. Alumni

  • The Giants Legends Community is one of the largest in the NFL. We have a data base of players that is close to 500. At any given time, you can walk through the halls of the Quest Diagnostics Training Center and see former players from all eras visiting their old friends at the Giants. In addition, there is frequent communication with each legend regarding player engagement programs, player benefits/insurance, player care foundation and NFL Life Improvement Plan.
  • Alumni Internship Program: 2019 marked year number "2" of the Giants Alumni Internship Program. With the average NFL players career being in the area of 3 to 4 years, John Mara recognized the fact the majority of the players who were no longer in the league were most likely not set up to succeed in the "real world". Even if by chance, they had completed their college degrees, the majority of NFL players have never participated in a college internship where they would be exposed to practical work experience for their post NFL careers. With this is mind, John created a program where former/retired players can work at the Giants in a number of different departments that they may find interesting. The program has been a huge success with these players going on to complete their college degrees, work as an Assistant Principal along with discovering that we had a graphic - artist in the mix.
Alumni
  • Alumni Appearances: Most players do not hail from the NY area. However, many of our players remain in the area at the conclusion of their on the field careers as the opportunities for a post football career in the metropolitan area are endless. With that in mind, we are able to provide endless opportunities to our alumni through sponsor driven appearances, local community appearances as well as business opportunities.
  • Alumni Weekend: Each year we host a yearly Giants Legends homecoming event celebrating and honoring the Legends. This past year's homecoming weekend included a Friday night meet and greet with the players at a local hotel. Saturday, the alumni and their families boarded a boat and went to the Statue of Liberty followed by a night of dinner and dancing at the W Hotel in Hoboken. On Sunday, our alumni took the field as part of the NFL's 100-year Fantennial Celebration.
