10 things to know about Arvell Reese & Francis Mauigoa

REESE-MAUIGOA-MOODYS

The Giants made two selections in the top 10 of this year's NFL Draft, adding Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese at No. 5 before taking Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa at No. 10.

Here are 10 things to know about the two first-round picks.

1. Arvell Reese finished his Buckeye career having played in 38 games with 14 starts across three seasons. His career totals include 112 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and seven quarterback hurries.

2. The 6-foot-4, 241-pound linebacker had what was easily his best campaign this past season. Playing under new Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, Reese racked up career bests with 69 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, five QB hurries and two pass breakups.

3. His performance in 2025 led to him being named Consensus All-American with first-team honors by the Associated Press, Football Coaches Association of America and Walter Camp. He was also named the Big Ten Conference's Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year and a first-team All-Big Ten selection.

4. Reese ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the 2026 NFL Combine, which tied Ohio State teammate Sonny Styles for the fastest time among all linebackers and edge defenders this year.

5. Only 20 years old, Reese is a two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. While at Ohio State, he majored in human development and family science. During his time at Cleveland Glenville High School, Reese was named the Division IV Defensive Player of the Year by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association after leading the school to its first state title in 2022. He was also named a finalist for the 2022 High School Butkus Award, given to the nation's top high school linebacker.

The Giants' 2026 draft picks have arrived at their new home.

6. Francis Mauigoa started all 42 games during his three seasons at Miami, never missing a single start while lining up at right tackle. Over his last two seasons, Mauigoa was credited with allowing just three total sacks across 980 pass block snaps, per Pro Football Focus.

7. Similar to Reese, Mauigoa had his best season in 2025. The 6-foot-5, 329-pound lineman surrendered two sacks total on the season, and only one sack on 205 true pass set snaps. His 93.7 percent win rate on those snaps ranked as the second-best among all 2026 NFL Draft-eligible tackles, per PFF.

8. The 20-year-old picked up numerous accolades for his performance last season, starting with earning Consensus All-American first-team honors. He received the ACC's Jacobs Blocking Trophy, honoring the conference's top blocker, as well as being named first-team All-ACC. He was also named second-team All-ACC as a sophomore in 2024.

9. A team captain in 2025, Mauigoa was part of an offensive line unit that ranked No. 5 in the nation and led the ACC in fewest tackles for loss allowed per game (3.63). Miami ranked No. 16 nationally and No. 2 in the ACC in sacks allowed per game (1.25) despite facing some of nation's top defenses. This came after Mauigoa and the rest of the O-line helped pave the way for the No. 1 offense in the nation in both points per game (43.9) and yards per game (537.2) in 2024.

10. Despite making all of his collegiate starts at right tackle, Mauigoa has had plenty of experience training on the interior. The young lineman has been practicing at all five positions across the offensive line since the college football season ended, and even spent time training at guard during his time at Miami.

"I've been practicing throughout my whole college career at the University of Miami," Mauigoa said about playing inside. "We've been doing cross-training. (University of Miami assistant head coach/offensive line) Coach (Alex) Mirabal did a great job with putting me at guard on both sides, left and right, just so I can understand how guards operate and what they do and stuff like that. So, I've been getting a lot of reps when I was in training, though."
