Bobby Okereke has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his two-takeaway performance in the Giants' season-ending victory over the Cowboys.

In addition to six tackles, the veteran linebacker grabbed his second interception in as many games and also recovered a fumble. The Giants scored 10 points off the turnovers en route to the 34-17 win, their second in a row to finish the season. The week prior in Las Vegas, Okereke notched his first interception since 2023. He is the first Giant with a fumble recovery and an interception in a game since safety Dane Belton did so against the Rams on New Year's Eve 2023.

Okereke finished the 2025 season with 143 tackles, the fourth-most ever by a Giant in a single season. He is now the only player in franchise history with multiple seasons with at least 140 tackles.

This is Okereke's first Defensive Player of the Week award and he becomes the first Giants player to win it since outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux in Week 15 of 2022. Okereke is the first former Stanford linebacker to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.

It capped a season that was also memorable for Okereke off the field.

The three-time team captain was the club winner for the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

Each team honors one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community, with one winner selected from the 32 nominees. The winner of the award each year receives up to a $265,000 donation to the charity of his choice, while all 32 club winners receive up to a $55,000 donation.

The winner of this year's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award will be announced live at "NFL Honors" on Feb. 6.

Last year, wide receiver Darius Slayton was the Giants' club winner. Jaguars defensive end Arik Armstead went on to win the NFL award. Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning is the only Giants player ever to receive the award, which was first given to Johnny Unitas in 1970.
