NYG-HELMET-TOMMY

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Coach Brian Daboll today announced two additions to the Giants' coaching staff, one with an extensive NFL resume and another relatively new to the league.

Bryan Cox, a Super Bowl winner and three-time Pro Bowler as a player who previously coached with five other teams, is the Giants' new assistant defensive line coach. He will work with line coach Andre Patterson on defensive coordinator Don “Wink’ Martindale’s staff.

Daboll also added Kevin Wilkins to the staff as a defensive assistant. Wilkins worked last season in the same position for the Baltimore Ravens.

Cox, who turns 54 tomorrow, last worked in the NFL as the Atlanta Falcons' defensive line coach from 2014-16. In his final season with the team, the Falcons won the NFC championship and advanced to Super Bowl LI, where they lost to the New England Patriots in overtime, 34-28.

Cox began his coaching career as the Jets' defensive line coach from 2006-08 under Eric Mangini. When Mangini was named the Cleveland Browns coach in 2009, he brought Cox with him as his D-line coach.

In 2011, Cox was the Miami Dolphins' pass rush coach. The following year, he began a two-season stint as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defensive line coach.

A linebacker, Cox entered the NFL from Western Illinois as the Dolphins' fifth-round draft choice in 1991. He soon became one of the league's most productive linebackers and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1992, 94 and 95. Cox also played for the Chicago Bears (1996-97), the Jets (1998-2000), New England (2001) and New Orleans Saints (2002). He was on the Patriots team that defeated the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

Wilkins joined the Ravens in 2015 as a video intern, a position he held for two seasons. He was Baltimore's video operations coordinator from 2017-20. Wilkins began doing special projects for the Ravens' defensive coaching staff in 2019 and was made a defensive assistant for the 2021 season.

Wilkins was a business major at the University of South Carolina, where he worked as a studio video assistant for five seasons.

A native of Doylestown, Pa., Wilkins attended La Salle College High School.
