CBS Sports selects Jalin Hyatt as potential big contributor

The Giants have gotten some strong performances from players on both sides of the ball during OTAs.

One player that has stepped up thus far in spring practices is wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.

CBS Sports' Garrett Podell recently chose one player from each team that could be an under-the-radar, big contributor in 2025, in which Hyatt was the selection for the Giants.

"Hyatt has caught just 31 passes for 435 yards, and he has yet to score a receiving touchdown," Podell wrote about the receiver's first two seasons. "Things could be different for Hyatt in Year 3 though with the Giants moving on from Daniel Jones and bringing in three quarterbacks who love to throw deep: 10-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson, one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jameis Winston and 2025 25th overall pick Jaxson Dart, who led college football in yards per pass attempt (10.8) in 2024.

"Yes, OTAs are noncontact, but Hyatt appears to be building a nice early rapport with Wilson, who is slated to begin 2025 as the Giants starting quarterback. If New York can actually find consistency throwing deep now that Jones is gone, then perhaps Hyatt could take a major leap."

Hyatt has been finding the end zone consistently throughout spring practices, with the latest coming during Monday's session.

On the first play of 7-on-7 drills in the opening team period, Wilson found the young wideout in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown.

Wilson and Hyatt have been developing some nice chemistry during OTAs, with the two connecting on passes in just about every practice. In last Monday's session, Wilson found the young receiver deep down field on one of his famous "moon ball" passes, which Hyatt brought in for a 40+ yard gain.

"Jalin Hyatt, he's a guy that I really believe in," the veteran quarterback told the media last week.

The connection between Wilson and Hyatt goes beyond the last couple of weeks, though.

"You look at the leadership component," assistant general manager Brandon Brown said last week about why the team wanted to bring Wilson in. "When you see what Russ has done since he's got here, within the first two weeks he's bringing Jalin Hyatt out to L.A. and they're working out privately. He's getting all the skill guys together down in Atlanta."
