The Giants were back on the field in Allen Park, Mich., for Day 2 of joint practices with the Detroit Lions.

It was a spirited session with a lot of work in the red zone, leading to plenty of touchdowns and key plays.

Let's dive right into it. Here are the touchdowns, takeaways and top plays from Wednesday's practice:

TOUCHDOWNS

🔹 The first team period featured 7-on-7 drills inside the red zone. Quarterback Daniel Jones got things started when he connected with tight end Darren Waller, who made a contested catch over the middle for the first touchdown of the day.

🔹 Jones also found running back Saquon Barkley for a touchdown from the five-yard line later in the period. A few plays later with the offense lined up on the goal line, Jones hit wide receiver Cole Beasley for the score.

🔹 Tyrod Taylor had two touchdown passes during 7-on-7s, including one to tight end Tommy Sweeney.

🔹 During a full 11-on-11 period, Jones hit Darius Slayton for a touchdown from the 30-yard line. The offense then lined up on the two-yard line, where Jones once again found Slayton in the corner for the score.

🔹 Slayton wasn't the only wide receive to catch multiple touchdowns. Parris Campbell also caught two scores from Jones, both from inside the five-yard line.

🔹 Taylor threw a beautifully placed ball to wide receiver Jamison Crowder right in the front of the end zone for a touchdown from 30 yards out.

🔹 The final period of practice saw both teams' offenses go back and forth on the same field. The Giants scored first when Jones found a wide-open Waller for a 10-yard touchdown. After Detroit answered with a score of its own, Taylor connected with tight end Daniel Bellinger from 15 yards out on the ensuing drive. The Giants' defense then picked up the stop on Detroit's final drive, leading to the Giants' 2-1 victory in the period.

TAKEAWAYS

🔹 Not to be outdone, the defense picked up a few turnovers on Wednesday. Rookie cornerback Gemon Green had the first interception of the day when he picked off the Lions' QB in the end zone.

🔹 The defensive play of the day came during 11-on-11 drills from midfield, where safety Dane Belton chased down Lions running back David Montgomery and ripped the ball out of his hands, returning it the other way for a likely touchdown.

🔹 The third and final turnover came later during team drills. It was tough to see who knocked the ball out of Montgomery's hands between Belton and outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, but it was Thibodeaux that emerged from the pile with the ball in his hands.

TOP PLAYS

🔹 Let's start with the defense, which had some strong plays during the opening 7-on-7 drills. Safety Jason Pinnock had great coverage on a throw into the end zone, forcing an incompletion. A couple of plays later, linebacker Bobby Okereke did the same, forcing an incomplete pass on a ball in the end zone.

🔹 Cornerback Deonte Banks had sticky coverage on Lions top wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, breaking up a pass on the goal line.

🔹 Linebacker Carter Coughlin also had a forced incompletion during this period.

🔹 The defense got some pressure on the Lions during 11-on-11 drills. Defensive lineman Leonard Williams picked up a sack, and a couple of plays later, cornerback Cor'Dale Flott registered a sack of his own. During this same period, defensive lineman Jordon Riley had a run stop at the line of scrimmage.

🔹 Later during 11-on-11s, cornerbacks Adoree' Jackson and Darnay Holmes combined to force an incompletion on a pass thrown to Lions wide receiver Kalif Raymond. Outside linebacker Tashawn Bower also had a pressure during this period.

🔹 In the final period of the day, outside linebacker Tomon Fox picked up a sack.

🔹 Now let's move back to the offense. With the ball lined up on their own side of the field, Jones found wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins for a big gain over the middle. Later in the period, Jones connected with Slayton on the sideline for a first down.

🔹 Taylor hit wide receiver Collin Johnson for a big gain on the sideline during 11-on-11s. The two connected once again a few minutes later for a first down over the middle.

🔹 Giants running backs had a few strong runs within several minutes of each other in the next team period. Jashaun Corbin got things started with a big gain, before James Robinson broke through a hole at the line for a nice chunk of yards. Rookie Eric Gray rounded out the period with another big run.
