Ole Miss set to retire Eli Manning's No. 10 jersey

Just under one month after the Giants retired his No. 10 jersey, Eli Manning is set to have his number retired by his alma mater in a special halftime ceremony today.

Ole Miss is taking on LSU this afternoon at Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. While the Rebels will look to improve their record to 6-1 on the season, the program will also be honoring one of the school's greatest players, as today's game has been deemed Eli Manning Day.

Manning will become just the third player in school history to have his number retired, joining his father Archie Manning (18) and Chucky Mullins (38).

In four seasons at Ole Miss, Manning threw for 10,119 yards, 81 touchdowns and 35 interceptions. During a stellar senior campaign back in 2003, the quarterback tossed for 3,600 yards, 29 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. This performance earned Manning numerous awards and accolades, including SEC Offensive Player of the Year, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the Maxwell Award, Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC.

The San Diego Chargers went on to select Manning with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft before trading him to the Giants, where he would go on to have an illustrious career with Big Blue. Manning is still the highest pick in the program's history.

Manning set or tied 47 Ole Miss single‑game, season and career records during his time in Oxford, including a school-record 10,119 career passing yards and 81 career TD passes. He also set new Ole Miss career records for completions (829) and passing attempts (1,363), and both marks ranked fourth on the SEC career lists.

According to Ole Miss' website, "Manning will lead the team through The Grove for the Walk of Champions at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Manning's jersey number retirement ceremony will take place at halftime of the game. The university's marching band, The Pride of South, will be part of the presentation, including family and other dignitaries, as the number is unveiled on the south facade of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

As part of the festivities, MANNING will be painted in the end zones of Hollingsworth Field."
