Andrew Thomas voted among NFL's top offensive tackles

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has continued his recent rankings of the top 10 players at each position, as voted by league executives, coaches and scouts.

Last week, Brian Burns landed at No. 9 among NFL edge rushers. Now Burns' teammate on the opposite side of the line of scrimmage has been recognized for his stellar play.

Andrew Thomas was voted as the No. 8 offensive tackle in the NFL after yet another dominant season for the Giants.

"After battling injuries in recent years, Thomas had a banner season for New York," wrote Fowler. "His 77.7% run block win rate ranked second among players in our top 10, helping the Giants produce the fifth-ranked rushing attack. He's considered one of the most well-rounded tackles and a cornerstone player when healthy."

After missing the first two games of the season, Thomas returned for the Week 3 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. He proceeded to play in the next 13 games, in which he surrendered just one total sack and 13 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

In addition to being PFF's third-highest ranked offensive tackle in terms of pass blocking, Thomas also finished as the analytics site's No. 8 tackle when it came to run blocking.

The 27-year-old tackle was voted No. 10 in the same ESPN survey done by Fowler last year.

"A big factor with tackles is how much you can trust them in passing-down situations against the best, often on an island, and Thomas can handle that," an NFL coordinator told Fowler. "Not many can."

Detroit's Penei Sewell topped the list at No. 1, while Thomas landed in between Philadelphia's Lane Johnson at No. 7 and Los Angeles Chargers tackle Joe Alt at No. 9.
