The Giants made a pair of practice squad transactions during their long weekend.

They signed cornerback Terrence Frederick and center Scott Wedige and terminated the practice squad contracts of tackle Matt McCants and wide receiver Brandon Collins.

Frederick, 5-10 and 188 pounds, was a seventh-round draft choice this year by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the 246th overall selection. The Texas A&M product played in all four preseason games and had four tackles, a pass defensed and two special teams tackles. He was waived on Sept. 1. At Texas A&M, Frederick played in 50 games with 45 starts, including 39 consecutive to end his career. He was a two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection (2010, 2011) and finished his career with 205 tackles, six sacks, four interceptions, 19 tackles for losses and 29 pass breakups.

Wedige, 6-4 and 302 pounds, was signed by Arizona on May 11 as a rookie free agent from Northern Illinois. He was waived on Aug. 31 after playing in each of the Cardinals' five preseason games. Wedige was named first-team All-MAC in 2010 and 2011. He started all 14 games last season and helped the Huskies win their first conference title since 1983.

McCants was the Giants' sixth-round draft choice this year. He was waived on Aug. 31 and signed to the practice squad the following day.

Collins was signed as a rookie free agent on May 14 from Southeastern Louisiana and was with the team until he was waived on Aug. 27. He played in the Giants' first three preseason games, but did not have a reception. Collins was signed to the practice squad last week.
