East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Isaiah Boddie of New Britain High School (New Britain, C.T.) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 3 of the 2026 season.
Coach Boddie's Golden Hurricanes made a strong first impression with a 28-12 victory over defending Class MM champion, Windsor High School. Leading 7-6 at halftime, New Britain pulled away in the second half behind an impressive rushing attack and stout defense against the very talented and well-coached players of the Windsor Warriors.
The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting high school football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.
In recognition of Coach Boddie's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition, signed by Giants Head Coach John Harbaugh, and will be honored at a postseason dinner and at a 2027 preseason home game.
A New Britain alumnus and member of the school's 2004 State Championship team, Coach Boddie played collegiately at Central Connecticut State University, where he contributed to back-to-back NEC championship teams in 2009 and 2010. He began his coaching career at Cheshire High School, serving as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator from 2012 to 2017. After returning to New Britain in 2018 as the program's defensive coordinator, Coach Boddie was named head coach in 2020. Under his leadership, the program has continued to excel, reaching the playoffs the last three seasons and winning eight games in both 2024 and 2025. Boddie is proud of his team's achievements in the classroom during his tenure, as well as their commitment to their hometown. That commitment was shown with a downtown New Britain cleanup event spearheaded by the team, showcasing their character while giving back to the community that supports them.

It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by an organization with such a rich tradition and lasting impact on the game.
