EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today announced they have re-signed tight end Scott Simonson.
Simonson teamed with Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison to give the Giants a solid trio of tight ends in his first season with the team in 2018. He was the only one of the three to play in all 16 games, starting four.
Simonson had career-high totals of nine receptions for 96 yards, including his first career touchdown on a three-yard reception at Indianapolis on Dec. 23.
Simonson joined the Giants as a free agent on June 12, 2018. He spent the entire 2017 season on the Carolina Panthers' injured reserve list with a back injury.
Simonson, 6-5 and 261, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2014, from Assumption College. He played in four games as a rookie before spending two seasons with the Panthers for whom he played in 14 games.
Simonson played at Middletown (N.J.) High School, which is located about 40 miles from MetLife Stadium.
