Prince Amukamara's 2012 will be delayed at least another four days.
The Giants' second-year cornerback is inactive for this afternoon's home game vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Amukamara, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain, had practiced last week and said Friday he hoped to play. But the Giants' medical staff said he is not yet ready. The Giants next play Thursday night at Carolina.
Rookie third-round draft choice Jayron Hosley will make his first NFL start at right cornerback.
Also inactive is linebacker Keith Rivers, who started the opener vs. Dallas. Rivers has a hamstring injury. Michael Boley, who had the Giants' only interception against the Cowboys, will return to his familiar spot at weakside linebacker, where he started 42 games from 2009-11, including four in the preseason.
The Giants' other inactive players are running back Da'Rel Scott, offensive lineman James Brewer, wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan, tight end Adrien Robinson and defensive end Adewale Ojomo.
Defensive tackle Marvin Austin is active and will make his NFL regular season debut. The Giants' 2011 second-round draft choice has not played in a regular season game since he was at the University of North Carolina in 2009.
