Jameis Winston will be a guest on Netflix's first ever MLB broadcast
The 2026 MLB Season officially kicks off tonight with the New York Yankees taking on the San Francisco Giants.
The Opening Day broadcast will be a special one as the game will air on Netflix as the streaming platform's first ever MLB game.
Making it even more special will be the appearance of a familiar face.
Giants quarterback Jameis Winston is set to be a special guest on tonight's broadcast, Netflix Sports recently announced.
Prior to being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston enjoyed a successful baseball career. He was selected in the 15th round of the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft by the Texas Rangers, but decided to forego entering the minor leagues and instead took his talents to Florida State.
During his time with the Seminoles, Winston played both football and baseball. As a freshman in 2013, Winston pitched 27.0 innings and earned a 3.00 earned run average (ERA). He also played in the outfield, where he had a .235 batting average and .721 OPS.
The following season, Winston had an impressive 1.08 ERA, seven saves and 31 strikeouts in 33.1 innings pitched.
Of course, the Heisman-winning quarterback had even more success on the football field. He threw for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns during his redshirt freshman season, which led to him taking home the award as the nation's top player.
In his first season with the Giants last year, Winston started two games and finished with 567 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions for a passer rating of 82.1. He also added a 33-yard touchdown reception on trick play pass from wide receiver Gunner Olszewski against the Detroit Lions in Week 12.
San Francisco Giants legendary slugger Barry Bonds was also recently announced as a new analyst for Netflix's MLB broadcast, joining MLB legend Albert Pujols and former Yankee Anthony Rizzo.
