The Giants have signed wide receiver John Ross.

Ross, the ninth overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, played in 27 games with 20 starts the previous four seasons, during which he often struggled with injuries. He caught 51 passes for 733 yards (14.4-yard avg.) and 10 touchdowns, with a long catch of 66 yards.

In 2020, Ross played in only three games. He caught two passes for 17 yards, both in the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, the only game he started. He was inactive for five games before being placed on injured reserve with a foot injury on Nov. 14.

Ross, 5-11 and 194 pounds, played in 13 games with 10 starts and scored seven touchdowns – all career-highs – in 2018, when he caught 21 passes for 210 yards.

The following year, he ranked third in the NFL with 292 receiving yards through first three weeks before a sternoclavicular injury landed him on injured reserve for eight weeks. He started all eight games in which he played and had career-best totals of 28 receptions and 506 yards. Ross scored three touchdowns, including one on a 66-yard catch.

In three seasons of action at the University of Washington, Ross totaled 114 receptions, 1,729 receiving yards and 22 receiving touchdowns and set a school record with four career kickoff returns for scores.
