LeBron James expects big year out of Parris Campbell

A lot has been made about the moves made by the Giants this offseason to improve the team's offensive playmakers.

Additions were made at the running back, wide receiver and tight end positions, boosting the talent and more notably, the speed, at each of those spots on the roster.

One of those transactions was the signing of wide receiver Parris Campbell during free agency, a move that one of the most famous athletes on the planet recently praised.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took to social media to recognize Campbell, who James believes is in for a big season with the Giants in 2023.

While the two are separated by over 13 years, James and Campbell were both born and raised in Akron, Ohio and both attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. This has led to a growing connection between the two athletes.

After injuries limited him to just 15 total games in his first three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Campbell played all 17 contests last year with 16 starts. The 6-foot, 208-pound receiver set career-highs in almost every category with his 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to five rush attempts for 58 yards (11.6 avg.).

Campbell reached 22.11 miles per hour on one of those five carries last season, a play that ended up gaining 28 yards. It was the fastest recorded speed by any ball carrier during the 2022 NFL season, according to Next Gen Stats.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old has long been known for his speed. He was a three-time All-Big Ten selection, once as a receiver (Third Team in 2017) and twice as a return specialist (Third Team in 2016, Second Team in 2017), during his time at Ohio State. In his final season with the Buckeyes, Campbell caught 90 passes for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He then ran a 4.31 40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine, which led to him being selected in the second round (No. 59 overall) of the draft by the Colts.
