Instant Analysis: Giants lose to Packers, 31-13

AT A GLANCE: Four Aaron Rodgers' touchdown passes and three Daniel Jones' interceptions yielded a 31-13 Giants loss to the Green Bay Packers. Big Blue dropped to 2-10 as the losing streak reached eight games.

UP NEXT: The Giants prepare for a Monday night game in Philadelphia, where they have not won since 2013. This is the first leg of the season series, which the Eagles swept the past two years. The all-time series is tied, 85-85-2, including 2-2 in the postseason.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE:

*Wide receiver Golden Tate (concussion) and tight ends Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion) missed Week 13 with injuries. Kaden Smith, who started for Engram, led the Giants with six catches for 70 yards.

*With a three-yard pass to Saquon Barkley late in the first quarter, Daniel Jones broke Charlie Conerly's franchise rookie record of 2,175 passing yards, which he set in 1948. Jones had already broken two of Conerly's records – pass attempts and completions – earlier in the season. One play later, Jones threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard in a snow-covered end zone. Jones has now thrown for at least one score in 10 consecutive games, which broke another Conerly rookie record (nine).

Since the 1970 merger, Hall of Famer Kurt Warner holds the record for most consecutive starts (23) with a touchdown pass to begin a career. He is followed by Baker Mayfield (17) and Brad Johnson (15). Jones had been part of a five-way tie for fourth place on the list.

Just as he extended one streak, another one came to an end. Jones, who hadn't thrown an interception since Week 9, was intercepted three times by Green Bay. Jones now has 21 turnovers (11 interceptions, 10 fumbles) in 11 games played.

*Shepard's touchdown was his second of the season and first since Week 3. He missed five weeks in between after suffering his second concussion of the season.

*Saquon Barkley rushed 19 times for 83 yards, his highest total since he returned from an ankle injury six games ago. He also added 32 receiving yards to make it his fourth game of 100 scrimmage yards this season.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE:

*Big plays and slow starts have been problems for the Giants all season, and Aaron Rodgers wasted no time with a 43-yard completion to Allen Lazard on the Packers' opening drive. The Giants allowed two touchdowns and a field goal on Green Bay's first three possessions.

*A week after he grabbed his first career interception, rookie safety Julian Love made his first career start in place of the injured Jabrill Peppers (back). He racked up seven tackles, including an impressive takedown of Jamaal Williams in the open field on third down early in the second half.

*From the Giants 35, Green Bay converted a fourth-and-10 late in the third quarter. Rodgers escaped pressure and got off a pass just in time to Geronimo Allison for a 15-yard gain. It kept a drive alive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams, extending the Packers' lead to 24-13 with 14:22 left in the game. Rodgers threw another touchdown, his fourth of the day, to ice the game with 7:04 remaining.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE SPECIAL TEAMS:

*On Saturday, the Giants placed long snapper Zak DeOssie (knee/wrist) on season-ending injured reserve and signed Colin Holba off the practice squad. Before he made his Giants debut, Holba had played in 13 NFL regular-season games, including the first two this season with San Francisco. Holba also played seven regular-season and three postseason games with Jacksonville in 2017 and four games with the 49ers last year.

*Despite a new snap-hold-kick operation and a snowy field, Aldrick Rosas made both of his field goal attempts from 45 and 27 yards. A Pro Bowler a year ago, Rosas was on a tough streak after missing either a field goal or extra point in five consecutive games.
