Jaxson Dart exits with concussion; Russell Wilson takes over

JAXSON-DART

Quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a concussion during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Bears at Soldier Field.

Russell Wilson made his first appearance since Week 6 and replaced the rookie to start the fourth quarter, with the Giants leading 17-10 at the time.

Before the concussion, Dart completed 19 of 29 passes for 242 yards. He also ran six times for 66 yards, scoring both of the Giants' touchdowns on the ground.

Dart became the first quarterback in NFL history with a touchdown run in five consecutive games, breaking a tie with Cam Newton (2011).

"Another tough one," coach Brian Daboll said after the game. "So with Dart, as he was going back out on the field, just didn't seem right. We called the trainers over and said let's get him out and make sure he gets looked at. Went in and got looked at and ended up being evaluated for a concussion. Ten-point lead there in the fourth quarter, and give [the Bears] credit. They made a lot of plays. The quarterback made a lot of plays, a lot of loose plays, scramble plays. Just didn't get the job done."

In relief, Wilson completed three of his seven pass attempts for 45 yards while being sacked twice. Daboll was asked whether Wilson will start the next game -- a visit from the Packers on Nov. 16 -- if Dart cannot play. The Giants also have veteran Jameis Winston in the quarterback room.

"We'll see," Daboll said. "Right now, we just had a tough one here. I'll take a look at everything."
