THE MATCHUP

After winning two of the first three games upon Jaxson Dart taking over as the starting quarterback, the Giants have now lost three straight to drop to 2-7 on the season. The offense has averaged 24.2 points per game since he rook over. But the team has been unable to play complementary football, while being impacted by injuries on both sides of the ball, which has led to the current losing streak.

"It's tough," Dart said about going through this tough stretch. "You put a lot of work in and you're not getting the results on the win-loss category. You just have to keep steadfast in your process. I have confidence in everybody around me. I feel like we can definitely go on a run. We just have to take it one step at a time and find a way to get one win."

Sunday's game in Chicago is the first of three consecutive outings against NFC North opponents, all of whom are firmly in the playoff race. They will then travel to Foxborough for a Monday night matchup against the 7-2 Patriots in Week 13 before they head into the bye week.

ALL-TIME SERIES

The New York Giants (2-7) will travel to Chicago to face the Bears (5-3) on Sunday, November 9, in Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm ET on FOX.

This will be the 56th regular season meeting between the two teams, with the Giants trailing the series, 22-31-2.

They last met in Week 4 of the 2022 season in MetLife Stadium, when the Giants defeated the Bears, 20-12. The Giants' most recent trip to Soldier Field was in Week 17 of 2021.

CAN JAXSON CONTINUE HISTORIC START?

In last week's loss to the 49ers, Jaxson Dart completed a season-high 72.7 percent of his passes, totaling 191 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The rookie quarterback also added eight carries for 56 yards and an additional touchdown on his way to making history. Dart set a new franchise record with five games with at least one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. He also became just the third rookie in NFL history to have as many games with both a passing and rushing score.

This strong performance came right after Dart was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month. In four October games, Dart threw for seven touchdowns, accounted for 10 total touchdowns, and had a passer rating of 90.0, all of which were the most among NFL rookies. He is now up to 15 total touchdowns (10 passing, five rushing) with just three interceptions across his six starts.

The Bears' defense has struggled this season, especially over the last two weeks. Going up against Tyler Huntley and the Ravens, the Bears surrendered 30 points, before giving up 42 points to Joe Flacco and the Bengals this past weekend. This dropped Chicago to the 29th-ranked scoring defense. They head into Week 10 ranking 25th in passing yards and 31st in passing touchdowns allowed, although the unit does rank first in the league in total takeaways (19) and interceptions (13).

"They're tough," Dart said about the Bears' defense. "They lead the league in turnovers. We're definitely going to have to do our due diligence in making sure that we take care of the ball. It's going to be a lot of fun to play in that atmosphere. That's a place that I've always wanted to play at. I'm excited to play against a traditional organization in a place like Chicago against a really good team."

SLOWING DOWN THE RUN

The defense's struggles to slow down the run game continued this past weekend against San Francisco. 49ers running backs Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson Jr. combined for 159 yards on the ground and a 4.8 average yards per carry, with both backs recording a rushing touchdown along with three runs of 10+ yards.

The Giants have now surrendered an average of 192.3 rushing yards per game over the last three weeks, leading to the unit ranking 31st in total rushing yards and 32nd in rushing yards per attempt. Through nine weeks, the Bears have been one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL with 235 total rushing attempts. With it looking like the weather could play a factor in Chicago on Sunday, expect the Bears to lean heavily into their run game.

After missing last week's game due to a groin injury, running back D'Andre Swift returned to practice this week and was a full participant on Thursday. The veteran leads the Bears with 464 yards on 100 carries, good for an average of 4.6 yards per carry, and four touchdowns while adding 18 receptions for 192 yards and an additional score. With Swift sidelined last week, rookie Kyle Monangai led the backfield with an impressive 26 rush attempts for 176 yards (6.8 avg.) and finished with 198 yards from scrimmage. Both running backs will likely play roles in Week 10.

PLAYER TO WATCH

TE Theo Johnson – Since Dart took over as the starting quarterback, Johnson has a team-high five touchdowns. Meanwhile, his 26 receptions are the second-most on the team. The Bears have been unable to contain opposing tight ends recently, as tight ends from the Bengals, Ravens and Saints combined for 15 receptions for 201 yards and two touchdowns over the last three weeks. Daniel Bellinger also has an opportunity to contribute Sunday after returning to practice as a full participant.

MATCHUP TO WATCH

OLB Brian Burns vs. LT Theo Benedet – Burns enters Week 10 with a league-high 11 sacks on the season, with at least one sack in eight of nine games and multiple sacks in three. This week he will be matched up against Benedet, who has allowed just one sack but 15 total pressures since being inserted into the starting lineup in Week 4. Benedet allowed five pressures against the Bengals last week and was called for two penalties. Bears QB Caleb Williams has an average time to throw of 3.24 seconds this season, the longest average by a qualified QB in a season over the past decade.

BEAR TO WATCH

WR Rome Odunze – Odunze started the season off hot with five touchdowns in Chicago's first four games. While the second-year wideout did not catch a single pass against the Bengals last weekend, he did register a seven-catch, 114-yard performance just the week before. Odunze leads the Bears in targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns as he serves as the focal point of the passing game. Caleb Williams will likely look to get the young receiver involved early after last week's goose egg.

STAT TO KNOW

The Bears lead the NFL with 19 takeaways, including a league-high 13 interceptions. They have turned those extra possessions into 46 points, the second-highest point total in the NFL on possessions after takeaways. The Giants have turned the ball over nine times on the season, which ranks 13th in the league. Outside of the five-turnover game in New Orleans, the Giants have turned the ball over just once in the five other games since Jaxson Dart took over at quarterback.
