Addison Lynch brings eight years of NFL coaching experience to the New York Giants as he enters his first season as the defensive backs coach on John Harbaugh's staff.
Lynch spent the previous three seasons with the Denver Broncos, serving as the defensive quality control coach in 2023 and 2024 before coaching the cornerbacks in 2025. While Lynch was in Denver, cornerback Patrick Surtain II was named to three Pro Bowls (2023-25), two Associated Press All-Pro teams (first team in 2024, second team in 2025), and was named the AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2024.
Lynch played a significant role in the Broncos' 14-3 record in 2025, which captured the AFC's No. 1 seed. Denver owned the second-best defense in the NFL, allowing 278.2 total yards per game. Denver's defense also allowed 187.2 passing yards per game, the seventh fewest in the league.
Prior to his stint in Denver, Lynch spent the 2022 season as a defensive quality control coach for the Detroit Lions. Working primarily with the secondary, he helped guide rookie safety Kerby Joseph to four interceptions, the most by a Lions rookie since 1986.
In 2021, Lynch served as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Las Vegas Raiders following three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he also worked as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2020 and a defensive quality control coach from 2018-19.
While Lynch was on staff, the Chargers ranked in the top 10 in passing yards allowed per game. In 2018, they tied for the ninth-most passes defensed (73), and in 2020, opponents completed just 62.6 percent of their passes, the fourth-lowest rate in the league.
Before breaking through into the NFL, Lynch spent six seasons (2012-17) as a quality control assistant at Florida State. The Seminoles appeared in a bowl game all six seasons and won the BCS National Championship in 2013. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Mississippi College in 2011.
A native of Boston, Mass., Lynch attended Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., where he played safety and earned his degree in business administration. He and his wife, Avery, have a son, Archie.
