I was wondering why the Giants have not signed the defensive coordinator to a long term contract with the rights to take over as head coach when Coughlin retires?

Dear Fan:
Do you have any idea when Tom Coughlin is going to retire? He's never said a word about it publicly, so it could be quite a ways down the road. And considering the job he's doing – four consecutive playoff appearance, two division titles, a Super Bowl victory – I doubt there's a Giants fan anywhere who wants to see him leave. The organization certainly wants him to stay in the coach's office for a long time. So if Steve Spagnuolo wants his first head coaching job to be with the Giants, he might have to wait a long time. Besides, designating an assistant as the head coach-in-waiting doesn't guarantee success. Did you see what happened to the Seattle Seahawks this season?*
I was wondering if there was any possibility of Plaxico returning for a playoff run. His suspension was for four games but did the Giants place him on the IR? He would make a nice gift for the new year.

Dear Jason:

No chance. In addition to having personal issues to work out, Burress is ineligible to return to uniform. When he was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, it officially ended his season.*

Mike, Mike do you think it would be a good idea for the Giants to dress two kickers for the playoffs? As good as Carney has been it obvious his short kickoffs have hurt. Field position will he a huge asset in the playoffs where the games are generally close!

*Dear Richie:

Tom Coughlin has said he would consider suiting up two kickers for playoff games. I don't know if roster restrictions are going to allow him to do that. If he can do it, I think Tynes could be an asset. If not, I don't think it will be something that will cost us a game.*
