CBS Sports ranks Andrew Thomas among top offensive tackles
The Giants had two All-Pro selections from the 2022 campaign, one of which was left tackle Andrew Thomas.
Thomas made a significant improvement from the previous season, and his performance is being recognized by those in the media.
CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr recently ranked his top 10 offensive tackles around the NFL, where Thomas came in at No. 5.
"A Second Team All-Pro selection, Thomas allowed four sacks and 20 pressures in 578 pass-blocking snaps last season (3.5% pressure rate)," wrote Kerr. "Not only is Thomas a good pass protector, but he's also one of the top run-blocking tackles in the game. Since the second half of the 2021 season, Thomas has been one of the best tackles in football. The Giants have a stalwart at left tackle."
Originally the fourth overall selection by the Giants in the 2020 NFL Draft, Thomas has played 45 games (44 starts) over his first three years in the league.
After boosting his game in 2021, Thomas took a significant step in his development this past season. In addition to the stats listed by Kerr above, the 24-year-old also recorded just two penalties all season.
Thomas started the first 16 games of the year before sitting out the regular-season finale in Philadelphia. He played 100 percent of the team's offensive snaps in 14 games, while on the field for over 80 percent of the other two contests. The only snaps Thomas missed were due to games being out of hand late in the second half.
Last month, Pro Football Focus named Thomas to their list of the top 25 players under 25.
Here is Kerr's full list of the top 10 offensive tackles:
