BOBBY-MCCAIN

The New York Giants added safety Bobby McCain to their defensive backfield. Here are five things to know about the veteran:

1. Originally a fifth-round draft choice by Miami in 2015, McCain has played in 121 regular-season games with 87 starts (40 at cornerback) for the Dolphins (2015-20) and Commanders (2021-22). He has recorded 368 total tackles, 44 passes defensed, 11 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 4.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. McCain has also started one postseason game for Miami in 2016.

2. McCain, 5-9 and 196 pounds, has missed just nine games in his eight seasons and none since 2019. He started all but three games the last two seasons.

3. McCain's best year came in 2021, when he started eight games at cornerback and eight at free safety. He led the Commanders with a career-high four interceptions that season.

4. McCain's lone multi-interception game was the 2021 season finale against the Giants. He grabbed two interceptions and returned one 30 yards for his first career touchdown.

5. McCain attended the University of Memphis and played in 45 games with 43 starts. He made 136 tackles (108 solo), 1.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, 27 passes defensed, three fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. He also returned 42 kickoffs for 1,061 yards (25.3 avg.).
