CBS Sports names addition of Paulson Adebo as Giants' best offseason move

The Giants made a lot of moves this offseason, as over one-third of the current 90-man roster is new to the team.

Contributors were added on both sides of the ball through free agency and the NFL Draft. But which one might end up having the biggest impact?

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin recently chose his favorite offseason move for every team across the NFC, with signings, trades, draft picks and staffing changes all being eligible. When it came to the Giants, he went with the addition of cornerback Paulson Adebo.

"Adebo looks like the best bet to make an immediate impact as a proven ballhawk at cornerback," wrote Benjamin.

The Giants did not wait long to address the defensive backfield in free agency, as they reportedly agreed to a deal with Adebo, one of the top cornerbacks on the market, just a few hours into the negotiating period.

Adebo has started 51 of 52 games over the last four seasons, and after recording a total of 10 interceptions and 43 passes defensed, the 25-year-old veteran has developed the reputation of being a ballhawk.

The 6-1, 192-pound corner has at least three interceptions in three of his four seasons, and in 22 games across his last two campaigns, he has seven picks to go with an impressive 28 passes defensed.

He was able to rack up three takeaways in just seven games last season before a broken leg cut his season short, while his 18 pass breakups in 2023 were the third-most in the league.

"Great, pro, comes to work every day, practices hard, makes plays on the football, he's long," defensive coordinator Shane Bowen said last week about his first impressions of the veteran corner. "We've seen that more than a few times out here, whether it's picking a pass off, whether it's getting a PBU, not afraid to challenge.

"I think just for that room, a relatively younger room, I think he's been an asset in there as well, just the experience, the knowledge. Again, like coming in we have high expectations for him and part of that was the leadership role. Like we're expecting you to come in here and take on that role and thrive in that role and hopefully continue to help us to develop some of these younger guys.

"I think Adebo is one of the best out there on the outside, his ability to make plays," quarterback Russell Wilson added. "Been able to watch him from a distance too. Had a lot of respect for him. He's very patient and calm out there. That's always a thing that you want at cornerback, his ability to see things in process."
