CBS Sports' Preseason All-Rookie Team
The 2026 NFL season officially kicks off tonight in Seattle with a rematch of Super Bowl LX.
A few days later, the Giants will begin the John Harbaugh era at home with an NFC East matchup against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
With the regular season finally here, CBS Sports' Josh Edwards released his 2026 Preseason All-Rookie Team, which featured a couple of first-year Giants.
First up is Francis "Sisi" Mauigoa, who was CBS Sports' pick at right guard.
"Mauigoa played right tackle at Miami, but the need at right guard was greater for the Giants," wrote Edwards. "Although it may come as a surprise to see Mauigoa rather than Baltimore's Vega Ioane, Mauigoa was taken four spots earlier and looked better in the preseason. Both are worthy candidates for this distinction."
Mauigoa is the lone new member on the Giants' starting offensive line, as he joins veterans Andrew Thomas (left tackle), Jon Runyan Jr. (left guard), John Michael Schmitz (center) and Jermaine Eluemunor (right tackle).
The 6-foot-6, 335-pound rookie played in two of the team's three preseason games and did not allow a single pressure on 23 pass blocking snaps while also performing well in the run game.
The other Giants rookie to make Edwards' list is No. 5 overall pick Arvell Reese, who was one of the two selections at linebacker (along with Commanders rookie Sonny Styles).
"Much of the pre-NFL Draft process was spent considering Reese's potential as a full-time edge rusher, but his capabilities at linebacker had already been expressed on a football field," Edwards said. "Flush with pass rushers like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Abdul Carter, Reese has to be Fix-It Felix Jr. rather than Wreck-It Ralph. His job is to clean up the mess created by the front."
Reese saw limited action in two of the three preseason games, finishing with three total tackles (one solo).
But the 21-year-old flashed his versatility throughout training camp. Reese showed impressive skills in coverage, made plays in the run game, and of course, got into the backfield for a would-be sack on numerous occasions during team drills.
The 6-foot-4, 243-pound rookie will join veteran Tremaine Edmunds in the middle of the defense, providing the Giants with their most athletic linebacker duo in years.
